Last week in the first part of our two-part series on Marketing Automation Integration Success I wrote about how Listen To Your Gut successfully combats shopping cart abandonment by sending targeted and personalized emails to its potential customers using Infusionsoft – they see conversion rates on these emails of 20-25% which is well above reported averages.

This week in the second part of the series we look at their BigCommerce shopping cart and how they have used integration to allow their web store to work together with their Infusionsoft platform and their fulfillment house – ProPack.

But before we delve deep into the use case it is important to discuss the growth of e-commerce and shopping carts in general. Recently, I was reading an article in BizReport about the state of eCommerce that included data from a report released by BigCommerce. Some of the highlights included:

  • There has been a 70% increase in new eCommerce entities between Q1 2012 and Q1 2013.
  • The growth of eCommerce has been explosive with an increase in new entrants of 162% globally between 2012 and 2013.
  • The revenues of independent eCommerce sites have increased by 20% between Q4 of 2012 and Q1 of 2013

With those numbers in mind let us look at bit closer at the situation of Listen To Your Gut. As their business grew they required more and more out of their shopping cart platform. Hoping to move more toward an Amazon type model of wishlists and insights they started looking around. Enter BigCommerce.

By investing in a BigCommerce web store Listen To Your Gut was able to begin to look at their customers and what they were buying as well as collect their email addresses and information right in their web store and then send that information to Infsuionsoft for use in follow-up marketing campaigns.

Along with the flexibility, BigCommerce also allowed Listen To Your Gut to move more toward an Amazon web store model including wishlists, favourites, and product reviews. But with an even more flexible and robust storefront. There were still 2 major challenges that Listen To Your Gut had to conquer.

  • How would they get their BigCommerce web store to talk to Infusionsoft?
  • How would they get BigCommerce to talk to their fulfillment house?
