5 More Reasons Not To Go To DX3

(0)

The birds are chirping, the snow isn’t melting because we’ve hardly had any, and March is looming over the horizon. This can only mean one thing…

It’s time for Dx3 2016!

Self-described as

“…Canada’s largest conference and trade show dedicated to digital marketing, digital advertising and digital retail. It brings agencies, brands, publishers and retailers together for two days of networking and education”,

Dx3 is trying really hard with high-quality content, thought leaders, seminars and more to get us to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on March 2-3, 2016.

But I’m still not buying it, Dx3!

Even though VL had a great time both exhibiting and speaking at Dx3 2015, I present you with the following all-new list of 5 More Reasons Not To Go To Dx3 for the 2016 season. Because being surrounded by the best-of-the-best in the digital sphere just isn’t good enough for me – and won’t be for you, either.

Read on!

IMG_0201.jpgDon’t let these happy, smiling faces from Dx3 2015 fool you – avoid Dx3 2016!

Dx3 is horrible.

I mean, unless you like being surrounded by thought leaders, industry experts, and great information. Maybe you’re a nerd like that?

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: we at VL are huge nerds – especially about data and integration. (If you need any proof of that, I encourage you to browse through some of our past blogs.) It must be this deep-down passion that keeps us returning to both exhibit and speak at Dx3 year after year – 2013, 2014, and 2015, and now 2016.

But I’m not here to tell you about how much fun VL has at Dx3 every year, nor am I here to tell you about why you should certainly take the time out of your busy day to pop down to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to check out some of the fantastic futuristic stuff that’s going on this year.

Instead, I’m here to tell you that you don’t really want to go to Dx3 2016. It’s not for you! And I have 5 new reasons as to why! Let’s get right to it….

Reason #1: Too Many Forward Thinkers

website_capture_2016.png
Forget the text over this screen grab – look at all the people in the background! I bet they’re all thinkers…

The theme for Dx3 2016 is “BE INFORMED. BE INSPIRED. BE READY.” With a tag line like that, you can bet that Dx3 2016 is going to be filled to the brim with plenty of thinkers who are looking not only towards the future of technology, digital marketing, and retail, but beyond that too.

And if the foot traffic at Dx3 2016 is anything like that of 2015’s headcount of 4200+ attendees, there are going to be a lot of these people. From exhibitors, to speakers, to attendees, you won’t be able to avoid these forward thinkers if you try!

One area you’re sure to run into the most forward-thinking of all the Dx3 2016 attendees are the Interactive Zones. The names of the zones might as well read “Warning: Futurists Ahead”. The Creative Brain Results, PayPal Startup ZoneBrain Lab, and more all sound like they’re going to really try to broaden your thinking from beyond tomorrow or next year, and encourage you to think about the future of retail and technology. Ick.

Reason #2: Elbow Rubbing

man-80638_640.jpgThis guy might be at Dx3 2016. Do you really want to rub elbows with him?

So not only are all of those great futurists, thought leaders, industry experts, and more going to be at Dx3 2016, you might have to talk to them!

Just like in years past, Dx3 always puts a great amount of effort into ensuring that attendees (no matter their role in the exhibition) have a chance to chat with each other. What’s different from last year’s show is the awesome and very central PayPal Startup Zone, which is actually right across from VL’s Booth 506.

With all the great things going on on the Dx3 2016 floor, some of that industry knowledge is just bound to rub off on you. Even if you don’t actually speak to anyone at the show, there’s a ton of great resources everywhere you look (including an exclusive print version of VL’s Amazon How-To Guide), and there’s absolutely no way of not overhearing interesting tidbits of information. You won’t be able to help yourself – you’ll learn something somewhere at Dx3 2016.

Reason #3: VL & Friends

VL had such a great time last year speaking and exhibiting at Dx3 2015 that we’ve gone and done something horrid for 2016: we’ve invited some of our friends!

If you’re a VL fan (like I know you are deep down), you know about VL’s extensive network of trusted partners that help everyones’ customers move forward and grow together. VL’s friends over at Shopify attended last year, so we can’t really take any credit for them coming back again this year (but deep down we know it’s because they want to hang out with all the cool cats at VL’s booth 506, because who doesn’t).

A new addition to the Dx3 floor for 2016 are our great friends from Blue Link ERP at booth 316You can learn more about Blue Link ERP from their website, or from the profile we wrote on them a while back. Either way, make sure you save room on your dance card for VL, Blue Link, Shopify, and the rest of the great exhibitors.

Not that you need bribing to come and see your friends at VL in booth 506, but here’s a sneak preview of what you can look forward to seeing alongside of our bright, smiling faces:

Reason #4: Having to Actually Listen

2016_Speakers.png

Just look at all those speakers

Just like last year and the years before, Dx3 is a hotbed for hearing the best of the best speakers from all areas of the digital sphere.

VL_Robin_Smith_Speaking_Dx3_2016.png

Oh, who’s that speaking on March 2nd from 12:45-1:15 PM? Never heard of him, I swear.

The GALE Stage at Dx3 this year seems to be the happening stage for 2016. And we’re not just saying that because

So many great speakers, so little time!

With speaking events going on throughout both days of the conference, you won’t be able to avoid listening in… and learning something new.

Reason #5: Swag

Here-a swag, there-a swag, everywhere-a swag, swag

Do you like swag?

Well, if you don’t I recommend you walk around with a permanent scowl plastered across your face and your arms tightly crossed while walking the Dx3 floor, because there’s a lot of it – and the really good stuff, too!

Last year, VL gave out mini SherWood hockey sticks, t shirts, and more. What will we bring this year? You’ll have to come see us to find out!
